Bohan Phoenix, Michelle Jones Lee and Keith Leung have joined the cast of Peacock and A24’s crime drama Superfakes. The drama will be created by Beef screenwriter Alice Zhu and produced by the Safdie brothers.
According to the logline, Lucy Liu (Kill Bill, Charlie’s Angels) stars in the series as “a small-time Chinatown luxury goods counterfeiter who ventures into the dangerous black market to earn money for a respectable life in the suburbs for her family.” “Industry” star Ken Leung plays her husband.
“Superfake” will be executive produced by Josh Safdie and Benny Safdie. Howard Klein and Olivia Gerke won three art awards. Ronald Bronstein, Eli Bush, Liu. The series is from Emmy Award winner Ju, whose writing and producing credits include “Beef” and “Poker Face.” A24 and UCP, a division of Universal Studios Group, are also producing.
Phoenix is a Chinese-American rapper who will make his acting debut with “Superfake.” His music has been featured on Netflix, Disney, Comedy Central, and “NBA 2K.” He released his album “Make You Proud” in 2024. He is repped by Luber Roklin Entertainment and Granderson Des Rochers.
Lee is a Los Angeles-based actor who grew up in China and was educated in London. She is a member of the USC MFA class of 2025 and also plays bass in a rock band. She is the principal of Authentic Talent and Literary Management.
Leung is originally from Hong Kong and graduated from NYU Tisch. His film “I, Chinese” won the Jury Prize at the DGA Student Film Awards. He is repped by Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
“Superfake” was announced in January 2025 as a series order from Peacock.
