Julia Roberts gave unusual insight into her and her husband, Daniel Modeler’s “strict” parenting style of raising three children.
“I think they certainly do think some of the last kids in their fellow group got a phone or something like that,” the “Pretty Woman” actress spoke about 18-year-old twins, both Hazel and Finnee, each week, each week, both Hazel and Finnee.
“It’s true that when they were younger, Danny and I would have been seen as some of the stricter parents. It’s not like we’ve put the laws in place, but these are rules and they don’t change. Here’s the boundaries of your life, and that doesn’t change.”
“You don’t ask me, get the answer, then ask my dad and get another answer. It won’t happen. It never happens.”
Roberts, 57, said her and the modeler’s parenting style “creates stability.” This said children “can feel safe because they know that there is this fixed world of love and safety that exists unconditionally.”
Two years after the “Leave the World” star and photographer tied the knot, they welcomed their daughter Hazel and son Finaus in November 2004.
Three years later, the couple had Henry in June 2007.
Roberts, 57, and Modder, 52, tried to make their child’s life as private as possible throughout their childhood.
“We’re trying to protect our children,” she told USA Today in 2013.
In 2023, the “Erin Broccovich” actress revealed that she and the modelers are teaching their children less to resort to technology.
“So, for us, there was a simple rule that there was a charging station where everyone’s phones would go when we got home, and there was no phone at the table.
And in an interview with “Extra,” she said she was stuck at home “without children and devices.” It actually sounds like a fun time.
“I’m thinking about family getting together at the end of the day. You’ve never been in touch for 100 times throughout the day, so you actually have to talk at dinner…or there’s a busy signal.”
