You gotta love Caleb McLaughlin, who has made it clear he wants to play Miles Morales.
“I would love to play Miles,” he told me Friday night at the premiere of his new animated film Goat.
The “Stranger Things” star was a fan favorite when he donned the Spider-Man suit as Miles.
“I think Miles represents something bigger than himself, something bigger than most people,” he said. “Also, being from New York (McLaughlin grew up in the Bronx), just watching the story of ‘Into the Spider-Verse’ made me feel really, really connected and I felt like a lot of people understood what it meant.”
Miles was most recently voiced by Shameik Moore in the animated series Into the Spider-Verse. Hailee Steinfeld from Sinners plays Gwen Stacy. The third and final “Into the Spider-Verse” film is scheduled to be released in June 2027.
McLaughlin’s latest comments come just about a month after speculation that McLaughlin might have appeared after Miles posted a video of his gymnastics training on social media, which sparked heat.
He recently wrapped up his role as Lucas in the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, which airs on New Year’s Eve. “It’s a blessing,” he said. “Looking back, I’m so grateful for everything I’ve been through, the people I’ve met along the way, and the friends I’ve made along the way. I see a new chapter in my life after the show, and I’m excited to start with Goat.”
“Goat” will be McLaughlin’s first major role since “Stranger Things.”
“Goat” is the story of Will, a goat who competes in professional lowerball, a basketball-like sport that features the world’s largest and strongest animals. The cast also includes Gabrielle Union, Stephen Curry (who also produced the film), Jennifer Hudson, Nicola Coughlan, Nick Kroll, David Harbour, Jennifer Lewis, Aaron Pierre, Patton Oswalt, Andrew Santino, Bobby Lee, Eduardo Franco, Cherie Cola, and Jelly Roll.
“Goat” will be released on February 13th.
