Stranger Things executive producer Shawn Levy slammed “inaccurate” headlines after reports surfaced that Millie Bobby Brown accused co-star David Harbor of bullying and harassment.
Levy addressed Brown’s allegations for the first time in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday night at the season 5 world premiere of the Netflix drama in Los Angeles.
The reporter mentioned “news of complaints between two stars on this show,” and asked Levy how he handles “things like that on set” and how he “makes everyone feel safe and respected.”
“I read a lot of articles, some of which were very inaccurate,” Levy answered, adding that “there was a lot of noise” about the alleged scandal.
But he continued, “The truth is, we treat each other with respect because we see this crew and this cast as a family, and that’s always been the foundation.”
The filmmaker explained that it is his responsibility to promote a healthy working environment.
“At the end of the day, that’s the job,” Levy explained. “We have to create a respectful workplace where everyone feels comfortable and safe,” Levy explained.
“So we did everything we could to create that environment, and we’re proud of the fact that we did,” he concluded.
On Monday, news broke that director Brown had allegedly filed a lengthy complaint accusing Harbor of bullying and harassment before filming begins on the series’ fifth and final season in early 2024.
“There were pages of accusations,” a source told the Daily Mail, claiming that “the investigation continued for months.”
Brown plays Eleven on the show, while Harbor’s character plays her on-screen father, Jim Hopper Jr.
Netflix followed an official investigation into Harbor, and Brown allegedly had a personal representative on set during the filming of the final episode.
Officials insisted that Mr. Haber was not accused of sexual misconduct in Mr. Brown’s filing.
Despite their reportedly strained relationship, Brown and Harbor showed solidarity while walking the red carpet at Thursday’s premiere.
The pair were photographed hugging and laughing during the step-and-repeat, seemingly quashing rumors of a rift.
The Enola Holmes star, 21, even said in an interview with Extra that it was “amazing” to reunite with Harbor, 50, at the event.
A body language expert called their joyful greetings “over the top,” but ultimately believes there were no “obvious signs of tension” between them.
Representatives for Netflix, Harbor and Brown have not yet responded to Page Six’s request for comment regarding the alleged feud.
