Don’t say goodbye to Hawkins just yet. Although the flagship Stranger Things series ended with its fifth and final season, Netflix continues to bring The Upside Down to life with all-new animated adventures.
Netflix has announced the trailer and premiere date for Stranger Things: A Tale of 85, the highly anticipated animated spinoff from showrunner Eric Robles and executive producers the Duffer Brothers.
The series will debut on April 23rd and will be the series’ first foray into animation, ensuring fans will continue to enjoy Hawkins’ fresh stories even after the main series ends.
Broadway veteran Jeremy Jordan (Supergirl, Newsies) provides the voice of Steve Harrington in the series, which returns to Hawkins during a severe snowstorm in the winter of 1985. Set between Seasons 2 and 3, Tales from ’85 follows Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max during what appears to be a peaceful winter vacation filled with snowball fights and Dungeons & Dragons sessions. But when a mysterious threat awakens beneath the snowy streets of Hawkins, our young heroes must uncover its roots and save the city once again.
The voice cast includes Brooklyn Davey Norstead as Eleven, Jolie Huang-Rappaport as Max, Luca Diaz as Mike, Elisha “EJ” Williams as Lucas, Braxton Quinney as Dustin, Benjamin Presara as Will, and Brett Gipson as Hopper. Odessa Azion, Janine Garofalo and Lou Diamond Phillips round out the ensemble. The animation is by Flying Bark Productions.
The Duffer Brothers will serve as executive producers, along with Robles, Hilary Leavitt of Upside Down Pictures, Shawn Levy of 21 Laps, and Dan Cohen.
