Television actor Stewart MacLean was found dead Friday by the Canadian Integrated Homicide Investigation Team in the Lions Bay area of British Columbia, Canada, after being missing for a week. He was 45 years old.
“As the investigation continues to evolve, homicide detectives are working to collect and analyze evidence, review surveillance camera footage, and conduct interviews to establish a timeline of Mr. MacLean’s activities prior to May 15, 2026,” IHIT Corporal said. Esther Tapper said in a press statement. “We are following up on all available leads to find answers for Mr. MacLean’s family, friends and loved ones.”
On Friday, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police investigated MacLean’s disappearance as a homicide. On May 18, Squamish RCMP received a missing persons report for MacLean, who had been missing since May 15. On Thursday, it was announced that IHIT had taken over the case and believed MacLean was the victim of a homicide. Mr McLean was last seen at his home in Lions Bay.
“On May 20, IHIT developed the investigation and assumed implementation,” a Thursday press release said. “Squamish RCMP continues to work closely with IHIT and the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS) to advance the investigation. Squamish RCMP has launched an investigation and through investigative efforts uncovered evidence that leads investigators to believe that Mr. MacLean was the victim of a homicide. According to his IMDb profile, MacLean was often credited as Stu MacLean. Most recently, she played a barfly in a 2026 episode of the Netflix drama Virgin River, which was filmed in British Columbia. He also appeared in episodes of the Canadian series “Murder in a Small Town,” “Happy Face,” the DC shows “Arrow,” “Travellers,” “The Killer Inside: The Ruth Finley Story,” and the Freeform TV series “Beyond.” His acting credits date back to 2015. According to IMDb, he was also a producer and frequently filmed in the Vancouver area, including Bowen Island and Squamish.
