Steve Buscemi revealed that everyone, including himself, has mispronounced his name for many years.
“Growing up, we said Bue-Semi, we can’t even do that anymore. Now I say Boocemi,” he explained on Wednesday’s episode of “Tonight’s Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
“I don’t know how to say my name.”
The “Bouchemi” star confessed that “How Italy speaks” was “Bouschemi,” but “didn’t grow that way.”
In an interview, the “Big Lebowski” star recalled his early stand-up comedy days when he tried to shorten his last name to “Bus.”
“I can imagine the host having fun with it,” Buscemi joked.
Similarly, legendary actor Denzel Washington recently revealed that everyone pronounces his name wrong thanks to his mother.
Washington said that instead of “Denzel,” his name was meant to be called “Denzle,” and he placed his pronunciation power on the first syllable.
“My father, Denzel Hayes Washington Sr. I’m Denzel Hayes Washington Jr. My mother (Renis Washington) would say ‘Denzel.’ Appears on Tuesday.
“So she said, ‘From now on, you’re Denzel.'” The “Equalizer” actor recalled using his known pronunciation. “That’s how we got Denzel.”
Kirsten Dunst also gave up on the actress fixing them as people say her name is wrong.
“Everyone will ruin my name,” the actress pointed out the town and country last month. The “Bring It On” star revealed that the correct pronunciation is “Keysten.”
“I don’t care,” Dunst continues, and she responds, “Kristan (or) Kirsten.
“In the UK, they don’t say my name correctly,” she added. “In the final set, everyone said my name was wrong, but there were people from Sweden, people from Hungarians. You just give up.”
