Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues to make history.
Sony released the trailer for Tom Holland’s new Spider-Man adventure on March 17, and it racked up 1 billion views in four days. This is the first movie trailer to cross a major milestone. It currently has 1.1 billion views, according to WaveMetrix, further cementing its status as the biggest movie trailer of all time.
The trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day garnered 718.6 million views within 24 hours of its release, making it the largest trailer release ever for any movie or video game. In just eight hours, it had been viewed 373 million times worldwide, which was already enough to make movie history. The previous record holder, “Deadpool and Wolverine,” racked up 365 million views in 24 hours after its release during the 2024 Super Bowl.
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” also broke the record for the largest debut 24-hour trailer in history, held by last year’s “Grand Theft Auto VI” video game trailer with 475 million views.
Before “Deadpool & Wolverine” held the movie trailer record, Sony’s last web-dropped movie, “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” racked up 355.5 million views in 24 hours and grossed $1.9 billion at the global box office.
Brand New Day sees Holland donning the Spider-Man suit for the first time since No Way Home, where he made the world forget Peter Parker was Spider-Man. The film will be released in theaters on July 31st and also stars Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna and Eric Sommers. Producers include Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, Rachel O’Connor, and executive producers Louis D’Esposito and David Kane.
