Sofía Vergara had to trade red carpet grams for hospital gowns on the biggest night of television.
The 53-year-old Modern Family alumni revealed on Instagram that she missed the 2025 Emmy Awards on Sunday, September 14th, after being attacked by something called “the craziest eye allergy” just before she left the door.
“I didn’t get to Emmy, but I reached er🤣😩,” Vergara wrote, captioning the carousel post that included a pic of her left eye. “I’m sorry, but I had to cancel! I’m the craziest eye (allergy) just before I got in the car!
Her post also features a video of the actress lying in a hospital bed, with another clip taken while rinsing her eyes with water in the hospital sink.
Bergara will be holding Elizabeth Banks, Angela Bassett, Jason Bateman, Kristen Bell, Sterling K. She is not the only announced name that did not attend the event. Eric Dane was also appointed as a presenter, but did not appear. The 52-year-old actor, diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), was scheduled to help celebrate Gray’s 20th anniversary of anatomy.

The studio set a new mark with comedy victory and became the most awarded comedy series of one Emmys season.
