Peacock has acquired the U.S. streaming rights to “Saturday Night Live UK,” the new British adaptation of NBC’s iconic late-night sketch series.
Episodes of Saturday Night Live UK will air on Peacock the day after they first aired on Sky One and Now in the UK. The series will premiere on March 21st and will be available weekly in the U.S. starting March 22nd.
“Saturday Night Live UK” is the first domestic “SNL” to follow the same structure as the U.S. version, with a core cast of comedians appearing alongside rotating guest hosts and weekly musical guests. The principal cast includes Hamed Animashaun, Ayoade Bumboy, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Mariano, Annabelle Marlowe, Al Nash, Jack Shepp, Emma Siddi, and Paddy Young. Jonno Johnson is the head writer, with additional scripts by Celia AB, Omar Badawi, Grainne Maguire, Laura Claxton, Chris Cantrill, James Farmer, Humphrey Kerr, Omodara Olatunji, Joseph Moore, Lorna Rose Treen, Hari Kansu, Lewis Weymouth, Keith Axie, Bela Hull, Ayo Adenekan, Nathan Hood, Al Roberts, and Ely. Fulcher.
‘SNL UK’ is produced by the UK production team at Universal Television Alternative Studios and Broadway Video for Sky & Now. SNL producer Lorne Michaels will executive produce the UK version, with James Longman as lead producer and Liz Clare as director. UTAS UK Productions is overseen by Managing Director Helen Kruger Blatt. Shanna Baynard is executive producer and Andy Charles Smith is lead producer for UTAS UK Productions, along with executive producer Sam Salter. ‘SNL UK’ was commissioned by Phil Edgar-Jones, executive director of unscripted originals, and Lisa Clarke, commissioning executive at Sky, to Cecil Flo Coutas, CEO of Sky Studios and chief content officer at Sky.
