“Saturday Night Live UK” has added two more episodes to its first season, extending it to eight shows in total.
The Sky series will premiere live from London on Saturday at 10pm local time, and will be hosted by SNL legend Tina Fey, with musical guest appearances by British rockers Wet Legs. Jamie Dornan will host the March 21st show with musical guest Wolf Alice, while Riz Ahmed will perform with Kasabian on April 4th.
Each episode is 75 minutes long and is scripted and rehearsed during broadcast week, then filmed live in front of a studio audience. The show promises to give “SNL” a distinctly British feel, but will also include familiar bits like the opening monologue and “Weekend Update.”
SNL UK will feature a new host each week and will be anchored by a cast of Hamed Animashaun, Ayoade Bumboy, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Mariano, Annabelle Marlowe, Al Nash, Jack Shepp, Emma Siddy and Paddy Young.
“This first wave of hosts, musical guests and cast members marks the beginning of a bold new chapter for the globally acclaimed SNL series, fusing its storied traditions with a new generation of British comedy voices,” the press release states.
‘SNL UK’ is produced by the UK production team at Universal Television Alternative Studios and Broadway Video at Sky and NOW. Lorne Michaels will serve as executive producer, James Longman will serve as lead producer, Liz Clare will direct, and Darran Jono Johnson will serve as head writer.
‘SNL UK’ will be broadcast live on Sky and streaming services in the UK and will be available on Peacock the following day in the US.
