Smokey Robinson is facing two new sexual assault allegations, including one from a former male employee.
Two new accusers, John Doe 1 and Jane Doe 5, were added as plaintiffs in a $50 million lawsuit originally filed in May by Jane Doe 1 through 4. The lawsuit is filed by four former housekeepers who accuse Robinson of repeatedly raping them during their employment.
John Doe I began working for Motown music mogul Frances Robinson and his wife Frances Robinson in 2013 at their Chatsworth, Calif., mansion, where he regularly performed auto detailing and related services, according to an amended complaint obtained by Page Six on Wednesday.
John Doe No. 1 alleges in the lawsuit that Smokey, 85, began sexually harassing her shortly after she was hired and frequently showed up in her underwear where John Doe No. 1 worked.
Smokey then allegedly inappropriately touched himself in front of John Doe 1, who claims his “sexual arousal was vivid and unmistakable during these incidents,” according to the complaint.
According to the complaint, the alleged acts were often accompanied by “vulgar and offensive advances,” to which John Doe 1 allegedly responded by telling him to “get dressed.”
John Doe 1 alleges in the complaint that in 2022, Smokey grabbed his hand without his consent and attempted to force him into a private area, causing John Doe 1 to retreat, turn his back, and leave the premises.
John Doe 1 claims he quit immediately after the incident, but returned to work in 2023 at the couple’s request.
But Smokey’s behavior continued, and John Doe 1 quit again “out of concern for his health after learning that he had committed similar acts against other victims,” the complaint says.
Meanwhile, Jane Doe #5 alleges in her complaint that she began working for the Robinson family in 2005 as a housekeeper. She reportedly took time off due to a work-related injury but returned to work at the Chatsworths’ home from 2007 to 2011.
Jane Doe 5 alleges in the lawsuit that Smokey began sexually harassing her several months after she returned to work and continued to harass her throughout her employment. She said the sexual harassment often occurred in the bathroom on the second floor of her home.
Jane Doe 5 alleges in the complaint that Smokey called her “baby” and called her to the bathroom while she was taking a shower or getting ready to get out of the shower. Smokey then allegedly entered her and asked her to rub her back.
According to the complaint, the man allegedly grabbed her hand at least 10 times and tried to force him to touch her private parts, but the woman resisted by pushing his hand away and leaving the bathroom.
Jane Doe 5 alleges in the complaint that Smokey often walked around the house naked, rubbed her breasts with his elbow when he passed her, and said, “I love you and I want to touch you all. … Ask for anything you want so you can be with me.”
He once suggested she accompany him to a nearby hotel, according to the complaint.
Jane Doe, 5, also claims she was overworked and underpaid, but in her lawsuit, Frances, 73, claims she was aware of her husband’s actions but did not intervene. Jane Doe #5 also claims that Frances regularly yelled at her, often used ethnically derogatory language, and blamed her for various things she lacked.
The accusers allege sexual assault, assault, sexual harassment, sexual assault, hostile work environment, negligence, false imprisonment, intentional infliction of emotional distress, failure to pay minimum wage, failure to pay overtime, failure to provide breaks and meals, among other charges.
Reached for comment, Smokey’s attorney Christopher Frost told Page Six:
“In the Robinsons’ lawsuit against the group for defamation, civil conspiracy, and elder abuse, we have already explained how this was an organized and greedy campaign to extract money from the 85-year-old legend. Hiding behind anonymity, this group and its lawyers are seeking worldwide recognition while making the ugliest of false allegations.”
Frost continued, “We have repeatedly sought court intervention to compel these anonymous individuals to divulge critical information, provide relevant evidence, and share their depositions with the district attorney. For obvious reasons, this group and its defense… “They are actively refusing to provide all possible evidence to investigate their claims. Once the public knows the truth, their greedy motives and fabricated claims will be exposed.”
TMZ first reported on the amended complaint.
When asked about the initial complaint in May, the prominent record producer told the Daily Mail he was “appalled.”
