Cillian Murphy appeared in six Christopher Nolan films, including 2023’s “Oppenheimer,” winning both Oscars. However, Murphy will not appear in the upcoming adaptation of Nolan’s next epic, “The Odyssey,” so film collaborators are taking a break.
Murphy was in the studio at the Toronto Film Festival, a variety show with the team behind the new film “Steve.”
“Are you a trailer? I have a Romo: ‘The peace I missed’,” Murphy joked. “No, I can’t wait to see it. If the world directors can work on ‘Odyssey’, it’ll be Christopher Nolan. I’m very excited to see it. He is 1 million. He is a large part of my life as an actor.
Murphy was also asked about the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie, but it was a tight argument, saying, “Oh, I can’t tell you.”
“Steve,” which premiered the world at TIFF on September 5th, won rave reviews from Variety Chief Film Critic Peter DeBraguet, who praised Murphy for playing the role of a classic reform school teacher.
“For many, “Oppenheimer” was a performance of Murphy’s career (few people saw his amazing work in “Pluto’s Breakfast”),” he writes. “In any case, the two collaborations with the Irish actor’s recent two collaborations show both humility – a small film is not a pay project.
