Sinclair begins the opening goal of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” From Tuesday night, Variety has confirmed that the show has been replaced with “news programming” across the ABC station. Negotiations for the show’s return will remain ongoing.
“Starting Tuesday night, Sinclair will be ahead of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” “We’ll be replacing ABC’s affiliate stations with news programming,” Sinclair said. “A discussion with ABC is ongoing when evaluating the show’s potential returns.”
The move agrees that Disney and ABC will return Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night program to the schedule. In a statement Monday, Disney said: “Last Wednesday we made the decision to pause production of the show to avoid further inflammatory tension in our country’s emotional moments, which we decided because some of the comments felt untimely and therefore insensitive.
Disney bystander Media and Sinclair, owners of two major US television stations, vowed to preempt “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”. About the host’s on-air comments on the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. These announcements came soon after FFC Chairman Brendan Kerr appeared to suggest that the broadcaster should punish Kimmel for his commentary.
Much of the entertainment industry quickly rallied behind late-night hosts, including Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks and Martin Short.
Kimmel’s comeback, which will be held Tuesday night, was approved by Disney CEO Bob Iger and Disney Entertainment co-chair Dana Walden. The terms of the contract, including whether Kimmel must apologise for his comments about Kirk, are still unknown.
Sinclair vowed last week to run a special news report on Charlie Kirk on Kimmel’s slot last week, instead of ABC scheduled to air. However, the company moved the special to a streaming platform and ended up sticking to the ABC game show.
