If you’re already tired of dressing up from the “Showgirls” era and can’t imagine another “Wicked”-themed green and pink dueling on the red carpet later this year, you’re not alone. Apparently, Sidney Sweeney isn’t obsessed with ‘method’ dressing either.
The 28-year-old actress and producer is touring festival grounds to promote her biographical film “Christie,” which is scheduled to be released in theaters in November. The film is about legendary 1990s boxer Christy Martin, who required Sweeney to undergo serious body modification to embody the physique of a professional athlete.
But now she’s done it all.
Sweeney is said to have put on 30 pounds of muscle for the role, but has returned to her previous slender, voluptuous figure, and with the help of stylist Molly Dixon, continues to create headline-making red carpet looks that suit her figure.
Last weekend in the Hamptons, Sweeney turned heads in a vintage Thierry Mugler tutu dress more suited to a ballet stage than a boxing ring. Paired with a cropped suit jacket with curly lapels, the ’90s dress featured a plunging neckline and a bustier with a basque waist. She added a white miniskirt under a sheer structured tutu with bows at each hip and ivory tulle high heels by Jimmy Choo for the Hamptons International Film Festival red carpet.
Sweeney, who won an acting award, then changed into a pair of white Chloé sneakers, much to the dismay of her stylist. Dixon said this was “something that happens when I’m not there. She ends up wearing sneakers for some reason,” she playfully posted on her Instagram Story later that night.
Paired with stiletto heels and sneakers, this look is another hit in Sweeney’s continuing A+ red carpet outfits. Her pale pink Erdem dress stole the show at last month’s Toronto International Film Festival, and the star’s ensemble for Britney Spears’ birthday couple was just out of this world.
Come to think of it, Sweeney might be sticking with the method dressing trend in boxing movies. Every look she offers is a total knockout.
