In an interview with Variety magazine, Sidney Sweeney refuted rumors that she had undergone cosmetic surgery and spoke about her feelings about Botox and injections. He said he was told early in his career to “fix his face,” but “I haven’t been able to do anything.” She also reflected on being labeled a “sex symbol” and how people perceive her.
Sidney Sweeney has hit back at speculation that she has had cosmetic surgery. In an interview with Variety magazine published on October 27, the Euphoria actress admitted that she has never gone under the knife or tried injectable drugs. “I’ve never done anything. I’m absolutely scared of needles. I don’t get tattoos. I don’t do anything. I plan to age gracefully,” she said.
Sweeney, who recently debuted a new blonde bob, referenced a side-by-side comparison of photos of herself over the years, saying, “I’m like, ‘I’m 12 years old in that picture. Of course I look different. Now I’m wearing makeup and I’m 15 years older.'”
She also opened up about the pressure she experienced early in her career. Referring to her “very strong eyebrow muscles”, she said: “Someone told me to fix my face, otherwise it won’t work. You should get Botox. I was 16!”
For the upcoming film Christy, in which she plays boxer Christy Martin, Sweeney has embraced her physical transformation and gained significant muscle through training. According to Variety, she trained in mixed martial arts from the age of 12 to around 19 and has some fighting experience.
Sweeney also reflected on how the world views her. She told Variety that people often give her restrictive labels, such as a “sex symbol.”
“I play a lot of very divisive characters, and I think a lot of people think they know me, but they really don’t. So when people think, ‘Oh, she’s a sex symbol,’ or, ‘She leans towards sex symbols,’ I’m like, ‘No, I just feel good and I feel strong because I’m doing it for myself,'” she said. “And I hope I can inspire other women to be confident and feel good about showing off what they’ve got, because you don’t have to apologize or hide or patch up in any room.”
