Fox News, local television stations and other networks owned by Fox Corp. will remain on YouTube TV for now after parties agreed to a short-term extension of their previous contracts as consultations continue over the renewal.
“We have reached a short extension with Fox to prevent disruption to YouTube TV subscribers who continue to work on the new agreement,” YouTube said in an update Wednesday. “We are committed to fair dealings on behalf of our subscribers and are committed to keeping our progress up to date.”
A representative from Fox Corp. confirmed that the party agreed to a short-term extension. The previous YouTube TV Carriage agreement with Fox Corp. was set to expire at 5pm on Wednesday (August 27th).
Such contract disputes have been a regular function of the pay television business for decades. Fox Corp. claimed that YouTube’s parent Google had proposed “conditions that are out of the marketplace.” The FoxCorp battle is seeking higher programming fees from the internet giants.
Hours before the previous YouTube TV-Fox Corp. agreement ended, YouTube announced its contract with Herring Network to carry right-wing outlet OANs on YouTube TV starting in the fourth quarter of 2025. If Fox News is removed from the YouTube TV lineup, MAGA supporters will be hit.
Fox Corp. began warning viewers on Monday about potential blackouts on the channel on YouTube TV. The company called out big sport events with messaging. “Youtube TV customers could be taken away from the biggest fall TV sporting events, including Fox’s NFL, Fox, FS1, Big Ten Network, Fox and FS1’s MLB.”
In an earlier message to subscribers, YouTube TV said it was “actively negotiating to reach fair deals for both sides and subscribers.” YouTube TV Subs are eligible to receive $10 credit if Fox’s content gets dark “for a long period” as a result of a deal fight.

Additionally, the company’s contracts cover Fox Nation as an optional add-on to YouTube TV for $7.99 a month.
YouTube TV had an estimated 9.5 million customers as of the end of 2024, according to research firm Moffettnathanson. YouTube hiked 14% of the price of the base subscription plan, 14% hike the price of the base subscription plan, 14% hike the price of the base subscription plan, and 14% hike the price of the base subscription plan due to “higher content costs.”
YouTube TV previously clashed in a contract dispute with the programmer. In February 2025, YouTube TV and Paramount Global (now Paramount Skydance) renewed their agreement to transport CBS stations nationwide, with more than 20 other channels coming out after the talks on the controversial deal were released.
In 2021, YouTube TV subscribers suspended their Disney channel for two days before the parties reached an agreement. That same year, YouTube TV’s NBCuniversal distribution agreement expired, but companies reached a short-term extension before signing a long-term agreement.
