Kim Kardashian has revealed that she was the secret bidder for her father Robert Kardashian’s Bible from O.J. Simpson’s estate.
On the latest episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, the Skims co-founder opened a package containing a Bible while chatting with her youngest daughter, Chicago.
“You won’t believe what it is, you won’t care, but one day you’ll understand,” Kim, 45, told the 7-year-old boy.
“This is really special to me because it belonged to my father,” she added.
The reality star then pulled out the Good Book, which is being sold by Goldin Auctions as “Robert Kardashian’s signed, engraved, and personally owned ‘Living Bible’ given to OJ Simpson.”
“When someone goes to heaven, that energy is always with us,” Kim told Chicago of the child’s late maternal grandfather.
So the producer asked the billionaire businessman when he got his Bible.
“I just received it. I haven’t opened it yet,” she explained. “So if you’re wondering who won the O.J. Simpson auction, you can rest assured that it was me.”
Later, in a confessional, Kim went into further detail about how she acquired her father’s prized possessions.
“The Bible my father gave OJ was up for auction, so I contacted the attorney for OJ’s estate and asked to buy it without going through an auction. That email was allegedly leaked to TMZ,” she shared.
Kim said the “leaked” emails led to more people bidding on Robert’s Bibles.
“I understand the game, but you never want to be taken advantage of in that situation,” she said. “So I bid on the Bible using a false name so my name wouldn’t be traced back to the Bible.”
The reality TV star held a Bible and noticed her father’s name inscribed on it.
“I thought it was my father’s Bible that he bought OJ to write on. It’s actually my father’s Bible with his name engraved on it. I didn’t know that,” said the mother of four.
“So my dad gave this book to his best friend to get some motivation from Jesus,” she told her daughter.
Although Kim was thrilled to finally have the Bible, she plans to give it to her sister Khloe Kardashian, who first informed the All’s Fair actress about the auction.
“I’m so excited to give this to Khloe. She was the first person to show me this auction, so I think she deserves to have this Bible,” Kim explained.
In March, Simpson’s estate rejected Kim’s offer to buy the Bible for $15,000.
“I didn’t have a choice because of the amount, because why would I spend $15,000 of the estate and $15,000 in legal fees to sell it to Kim for $15,000?” Malcolm LaVergne, the man responsible for selling the deceased NFL player’s belongings to pay off his debts, told People at the time.
“It’s a zero-sum game. It’s a bad business model. If Mr. Kim had offered $150,000 for this, we would have gone to court to get this approved out of auction,” he continued.
That same month, it was revealed that the Bible had been sold for $80,276, an offer now known to have been made by Kim.
Robert, who died of esophageal cancer in September 2003 at age 59, gave Simpson a Bible in June 1994 after the former Buffalo Bills star was arrested in Los Angeles after the infamous Ford Bronco pursuit.
Kim’s late father was part of Simpson’s defense team in a high-profile murder trial in the 1990s.
The former athlete was acquitted of murdering his ex-wife Nicole Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman in June 1994.
OJ passed away in April 2024 after a battle with prostate cancer. He was 76 years old.
