Shia LaBeouf has been ordered to attend a rehab facility, undergo a drug testing program and post $100,000 bail as conditions of his release after a drunken brawl at a Mardi Gras bar earlier this month.
New Orleans Criminal District Court Judge Simone Levine on Thursday revoked the “Hole’s” star’s initial release on his own recognizance and ordered LaBeouf to post a high bond, according to NOLA.com.
The actor, 39, appeared in a packed courtroom with his lawyer Sarah Cherbinski and posted bail of $100,000 shortly after the day’s proceedings, the outlet said. He was wearing a white jacket, blue jeans, and cowboy boots.
He completed rehabilitation, underwent regular testing and was ordered to stay away from the alleged victims and the bar where the Mardi Gras drunken brawl occurred.
In his sentencing, Levine reportedly told the court that LaBeouf posed a danger to his alleged victims and to the broader “marginalized” New Orleans community, which has already suffered tremendous “terrorism.”
The judge also asked the embattled actor to submit to drug and alcohol testing ahead of that day’s hearing, as he had witnessed “significantly more” evidence related to the case after his initial release on February 17.
LaBeouf’s drug test reportedly revealed that he was taking a prescription that could be responsible for “one of the substances” found in his system.
However, the judge made it clear that her biggest concern was his drinking level and that she did not believe he was taking his decision to continue partying after his arrest seriously.
Meanwhile, LaBeouf’s lawyers argued that no illegal drugs were detected in LaBeouf’s system and that the results only showed evidence of his past alcohol use.
Mr. Chervinsky maintained that it is not against the law to drink alcohol during Mardi Gras.
LaBeouf also asked for permission to travel outside of New Orleans, but that request was denied, according to WDSU.
The state has reportedly requested a curfew to prevent the “Transformers” star and the alleged victim of a Mardi Gras drunken bar brawl from returning to work.
A representative for Mr. LaBeouf did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
LeBoeuf was arrested in New Orleans on February 17 and charged with two counts of simple assault after allegedly assaulting two men outside a dive bar in the French Quarter.
Video of the incident showed the “Disturbia” actor headbutting one of the alleged victims, being punched by a group of men in another incident, and shouting homophobic slurs at the third alleged victim.
LaBeouf was initially allowed to leave the jail without being required to post bail after being arrested and photographed, but the homophobic slur charge had not yet become part of the official court record, Levine explained Thursday.
Meanwhile, one witness in the courtroom during LaBeouf’s hearing said she hoped LaBeouf would “take action to support the LGBTQ community that he so deeply harmed.”
The witness also said that while sitting next to LaBeouf in the courtroom, LaBeouf “seemed a little nervous.”
“I was actually sitting next to him in one of the pews and he was saying some prayers,” the source claimed. “I saw him cross himself several times, and he seemed quite upset with the court’s decision.”
LaBeouf’s next court date is scheduled for March 19.
