Shia LaBeouf is speaking out after he was arrested on two counts of simple assault during a Mardi Gras celebration in New Orleans earlier this month.
“My actions… I have to deal with it. Does that mean I have to go to rehab again? I’m just not into it, brother,” the “Transformers” actor said in an interview with Andrew Callaghan’s Channel 5.
The actor, who was ordered back to rehab by a New Orleans judge on Thursday, said he rather has a Napoleon complex, saying, “I think I have other issues and I’m going to deal with that. I think I have a little man complex.”
He continued, “I think this has more to do with anger and ego than sobriety. But that’s where I’m at in my journey and I’m trying to get through it. I’m going to figure it out.”
Leboeuf claimed in an interview that a recent altercation started when three gay men started touching his feet.
“Honestly, big gay people are scary to me,” he said. “I feel like I’m standing alone and there are three gay guys next to me and they’re touching my feet. I’m sorry if that’s homophobic, but then so am I.”
When Callahan asked if things like this happen often, LaBeouf replied, “It only happened once recently…well, that’s why I got arrested.” He went on to admit that things weren’t supposed to get physical, saying, “I’m wrong for ever touching anyone. And this concludes my statement on this whole shit.”
According to a New Orleans police statement shared with Variety, LaBeouf “reportedly caused a disturbance and became increasingly aggressive” at the Royal Street store the night of his arrest. “After being removed from the building, the victim reported that LaBeouf struck him several times with a closed fist,” police said.
