Shia LaBeouf was arrested early Tuesday morning after an alleged altercation during Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Variety has confirmed.
The “Transformers” actor was involved in an incident outside a French Quarter bar just after midnight, during which he was treated by paramedics. TMZ reports that witnesses say LaBeouf was taken from a nearby bar for unknown reasons and a fight ensued. LaBeouf faces two counts of simple battery, according to court records.
LaBeouf has a history of erratic behavior, sexual assault, assault and emotional distress, including a lawsuit filed against him by FKA Twigs. The lawsuit was settled in July of last year.
Prior to that, LaBeouf was ordered by a court to attend a rehabilitation facility after being arrested in Georgia in 2017 for public intoxication and disorderly conduct.
In 2025, LaBeouf appeared in the documentary Slauson Wreck, directed by Leo Louis O’Neal. This documentary follows an actor who teaches and coaches an experimental theater company. The film, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, depicts LaBeouf berating actors and staff, inciting fistfights, and other aggressive behavior.
Owen Gleiberman, Variety’s chief film critic, wrote in his review: “At two and a half hours long, “Slauson Wreck” is little more than an endless, depressing diary-like rambling. But it’s actually funny. also works as a veritable exploitation film, as all we do is watch Shia LaBeouf parading himself as a kind of acting guru and mentor, only to become more and more enraged and horrified.” This place is abusive and unrestrained, leaving us with deep questions: “What in the world is going on here?” ”
