Seth Rogen wins Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a TV Comedy

In a full-circle moment of triumph, Seth Rogen won his first Golden Globe Award.

His win for Best Actor in a TV Comedy comes months after his showbiz satire The Studio featured an entire episode of the awards show, bringing together actors like Jean Smart and Adam Scott and executives like Ted Sarandos to play outcast versions of themselves.

“This is so weird. We were just pretending we were doing this, and now it’s happening!” Rogen said with a laugh while clutching his Golden Globe. “I thought the only way I was going to get that was to make a show that gave me a fake version of that.”

In this episode, Matt Remick, played by Rogen, does his best to be appreciated by Zoe Kravitz on stage, while fellow executive Sal Saperstein (played by Ike Barinholtz) is effortlessly praised and name-dropped one by one.

The presenters in this category were Kravitz and Dave Franco, who guest starred as himself on “The Studio.” The two actors hugged as Rogen accepted his award.

In his speech, Rogen thanked the other nominees, including “Only Murders in the Building” duo Steve Martin and Martin Short. “I remember growing up watching you guys and thinking all my life, ‘One day we’re going to beat them,’” he laughed. “I wasn’t thinking of that.”

In this category, Rogen beat out Adam Brody (Netflix’s “Nobody Wants This”), Glen Powell (Hulu’s “Chad Powers”), Jeremy Allen White (FX’s “The Bear”), and Steve Martin and Martin Short (both Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building”).

Rogen was previously nominated for a Golden Globe Award in 2023 for his supporting role in Hulu’s bio-miniseries Pam & Tommy, where he played Lande Gauthier, the man who stole and sold Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee Jones’ sex tape.

“The Studio” debuted on Apple in March and has been renewed for a second season. With 13 wins in September, it broke the Emmy record for most wins in a single season for a comedy series.
