What you need to know
The Williams sisters have their backs to each other on the court and in the aisles.
In a new Instagram post shared on Tuesday, Dec. 23, Serena Williams gushed about her older sister Venus Williams after Venus married actor Andrea Preti. “My sister’s keeper,” Serena, 44, began her long caption. “Venus, where do I start?”
Serena went on to say that as the two professional tennis players grew from “backyard courts” to “the biggest stage in the world,” she watched Venus lead with “grace, strength, and a heart bigger than any trophy.”
“Watching you step into your next chapter surrounded by love was like watching a sunrise…steady, strong, and full of promise,” she continued.
“You’ve been my built-in best friend, my protector, my teacher, and you’ve always reminded me to walk with purpose. Seeing you so happy, so loved, so glowing means everything to me. To love, to partnership, to laugh, and to choosing each other every day for a lifetime. I couldn’t be more proud to stand next to you, not just today but always,” the caption concluded.
Serena wore a white strapless mermaid dress with a sweetheart neckline, flowing cape, and removable lace sleeves. Pearl jewelry and pointy heels adorned the design, as did old Hollywood-inspired blonde waves and red nail polish.
Normally it’s taboo for anyone other than the bride to wear white, but Venus, 45, appears to have made this choice deliberately, as her other two sisters Lindrea Price and Isha Price, niece Justus and mother Orasen also wore white.
In the months leading up to her wedding, Serena told PEOPLE at the launch of her new podcast, Stockton Street, with Venus in September 2025 that she was busy with “a lot of planning” ahead of her sister’s wedding. She said Venus reached out to her for help because she is known as someone who “gets things done.”
Serena also recalled a recent planning call, saying her sister wanted her opinion on “literally 14 hairstyles.” She explained, “So she not only sent me the options and had me complete it within 30 minutes, but also created a PDF file of the hairstyle that would look best on everyone.”

“I’m the person who arranges things, I’m like a planner. I plan events and everything. I’m the person who gets things done,” she added about her role.

Venus and Preti were first linked in July 2024 when they were spotted on a boat along the Amalfi Coast in Nerano, Italy. After months of rumors, she finally acknowledged the relationship, calling Preeti her “fiancé” in a post-match interview in July 2025.
In 2025, Venus and Preeti actually got married twice. The first ceremony was held in Italy in September. The couple married again in a ceremony at a courthouse in West Palm Beach, Florida, on December 19th, after a full week of festivities before their big day.
Prior to the courtroom ceremony, Venus, Preeti, and their guests enjoyed a day on a yacht, a romantic dinner, and a bridal shower.
“For me, the courthouse ceremony was very unique, emotional and profound,” Preti told Vogue, adding that it was “the second best day” of her life after her wedding.
