Eagle-eyed fans spotted a framed photo of Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift in the background of the actress’ latest Instagram Story, “The Only Murder in the Building.”
This photo appears to be from the early days of their friendship, which spans over 17 years.
Swift recently referenced 2008, when the two met, during her speech at Gomez’s wedding.
Selena Gomez gave a detailed look at her date night style with Benny Blanco this morning, but fans also noticed a sweet detail in the background of her Instagram Story. Zooming in, you can see four framed photos behind Gomez, including one from the early days of her and Taylor Swift’s friendship, which spanned more than 17 years.

In January 2020, Gomez spoke to WSJ about how she and Swift became friends in 2008 when they were dating members of the Jonas Brothers (Gomez and Nick, Swift and Joe).
“We hit it off right away, and that was my girlfriend,” she recalled, adding, “We both went through terrible experiences at the same time. She taught me a lot about how I should be treated at a young age.”
He added, “There’s a lot of things about my friendship with Taylor that people don’t know about because I don’t necessarily feel the need to post everything we do. I flew in because I was going through what was going on in my family. It’s been proven every year and every moment of my life that she’s one of my best friends in the world. We don’t agree on everything, but we respect each other. ”
Swift attended Gomez’s wedding in September and gave a speech. The Life of a Showgirl singer Jimmy Fallon said watching Gomez’s marriage was emotional during an appearance on The Tonight Show in October.
“Not only was she the most elegant, gorgeous, bride-to-be, but I could see a vision of her that I had never seen before in my life,” Swift said. “I’ve never seen anything more beautiful than her on her wedding day. And she deserves this happiness. Benny – he is him. He’s so funny. He’s the best.”
Swift said of her speech, “We kind of teased a little bit about how we were dressed in 2008 when we met. Because we were teenagers and 2008 was quite a year, so let me tell you. So I talked a little bit about 2008 and I talked about how happy I was for her and how great it was to be a part of her life.”
