What you need to know
In the first trailer for Little Disasters, Diane Kruger’s life changes forever.
On Monday, October 27, Paramount+ released a teaser for the upcoming six-part limited series. The film follows a group of seemingly conflicted pregnant women who are forced to make an “excruciating decision,” according to the synopsis, setting off “a series of events that ripples, tears apart, and threatens to destroy not only their family, but their entire friendship group.”
The psychological thriller stars Krueger, 49, as the “perfect housewife” Jess, who, in the teaser, must come to terms with the fact that her friend Liz (Jo Joyner) calls social services for something she can’t explain.
“I’ve known you for 10 years,” she tells her friend. “How were you able to make that call?”

According to the streamer’s synopsis, Liz, an “ER nurse on duty,” must decide whether to call social services when Jess brings her baby girl to the hospital with an “unexplained head injury.” The group of friends, consisting of Charlotte (Shelley Conn) and Mel (Emily Taaffe), must deal with the consequences.
The 30-second teaser also depicts Jess’s “happy family” and “perfect marriage” before the events at the hospital unfold, leaving friends wondering “what’s going on behind closed doors.”
Little Disasters, which debuted on Paramount+ in the UK and Ireland earlier this year, will premiere in the US and other territories on December 11th. Directed by Eva Sigurðardóttir, the film also features appearances by J. J. Field, Ben Bailey-Smith, Patrick Balady, and Stephen Campbell Moore.
This story is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Sarah Vaughan, published in 2020. Ruth Fowler and Amanda Duke adapted the story, with Roughcut Television’s Ash Atala, Alex Smith and Marianna Abbotts and Fremantle’s Simon Judd serving as executive producers.
During the show’s UK premiere, Krueger told The Hollywood Reporter that Jess is a “very complex character.”
“I was incredibly drawn to her. She’s the type of mother you want to be,” she said. “I felt so much compassion[for Jess]. She’s incredibly fierce and would do anything for her children…It’s not often that you get offered a role that’s equal parts strength and vulnerability. I was able to bring a lot from my own personal life as well.”
Mr. Krueger said that those who don’t know the book “will be taken on a really wild journey.” She described it as “slow-burning, but accelerating breathtakingly as the episode unfolds”.
Krueger, who is also promoting the HBO Max series “The Seduction,” spoke to PEOPLE last week about her daughter Nova’s reaction to her children’s book “A Name From The Sky.” After publishing the book in 2022, Krueger joked that her 7-year-old, who also appears in the book, called it “boring.” She shares Nova with her fiancé, Norman Reedus.
Little Disasters will be available in its entirety on Paramount+ in the US, Canada, GSA, Italy and Latin America on December 11th.
