Ace Frehley showed his love for his fans in his final Instagram photo before his death on Thursday.
In an image shared to his account on September 24, the former KISS band member poses with a female fan while holding up a piece of artwork.
“Glenn wanted to share a VIP with Ace on the 10,000 Volts tour. Her painting is a hand holding a heart quoting the lyrics of Rip It Out: ‘Rip it out! Take my heart.’ Of course Ace signed it! 👈,” the caption read.
“Backstage isn’t a dream. It’s your next story. The VIP meet and greet package is live. Come back backstage and meet Ace,” he concluded.
The guitarist passed away at the age of 74 after recently being hospitalized and placed on life support due to a brain hemorrhage.
The musician’s family confirmed the rock star’s death in a statement released Thursday.
“We are completely devastated and heartbroken. In his final moments, we were fortunate to be able to surround him with loving, caring and peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this world,” the statement said.
The family concluded, “We will cherish all of his fondest memories, his laughter, and celebrate his strength and kindness that he gave to others. The magnitude of his death is epic and beyond comprehension. Ace’s memory will live on forever as we reflect on all of his amazing accomplishments in life!”
Around the same time that her last photo was posted, Frehley fell in her studio and was taken to the hospital.
In light of the accident, his doctor advised him to “avoid travel,” according to a statement that has since been deleted from his Instagram.
On October 6, he canceled his remaining 2025 tour dates due to “ongoing medical issues.”
Frehley’s former bandmates Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley also expressed their condolences to the family in a statement Thursday, saying they were “devastated” by the loss.
“He was an essential and irreplaceable rock warrior during the most formative and foundational period of the band and its history,” the two stars told Page Six.
“He is and will always be a part of the KISS legacy. Our thoughts are with everyone who loved him, including (estranged wife) Janet, (daughter) Monique, and his fans around the world.”
