Secuoya Studios will be recognized for the impact of its sustainable production program at the MIP SDG Awards at Mipcom Cannes, the world’s largest marketplace for television and streaming content (October 13-16).
Established in 2020, the award recognizes how editorial, campaigning and business practices within the television industry accelerate progress towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Previous recipients include A+E Networks, Junk Couture, Open Planet, Sky, Studio Silverback and African education platform Ubongo.
The award recognizes Secuoya Studios’ commitment to reducing the environmental impact of its productions, born from the practice of large-scale, completely Spanish-based productions such as “Monte Cristo” and “Zorro,” and expanded to multiple productions, including the recent “Hints” (Matte), a co-production between Secuoya Studios, Stellermedia, and Secuoya Studios since then. The award will be announced as part of a session at the MIP Creative Hub on 15 October by Caroline Petit, United Nations Deputy Director, United Nations Regional Information Center for Europe.
•The Secuoya Foundation Access Sustainable Froming Protocol, known as the Secuoya Foundation Open Access Greenbook, was developed with Mrs. Greenfilm Eco-Management Consultancy. This extensive experience in developing sustainability plans for productions has contributed to a more than 120 point manual of plans and procedures. Since its launch in 2022, all studio productions have adopted recommendations from the guide.
•Establishment of the Sustainable Management Seal, TüvSüd, in collaboration with international leaders in high quality, safety and sustainability solutions, is the first Audit Seal in the audiovisual sector, TüvSüd.
• Creation of a dedicated in-house sustainability in Secuoya Studios’ production department, including incorporating the role of an ECO manager into each production. Through the Secuoya Studios executives taught at Core School University, Sustainability is a core message to upcoming professionals in the production industry.
