Scott Wolf is excited to return for season 2 of The Doc despite his divorce from estranged wife Kelly Wolf.
A week after PEOPLE confirmed that Scott would be reprising his role as Dr. Richard Miller in a multi-episode guest arc on the FOX show, Scott commented on the news and thanked fans for their “love and support.” Scott is also planning to make his directorial debut with the series.
“Hey everyone! This is Scott Wolf here and we couldn’t be happier to share that he’s coming back for Season 2 of ‘Doc’ on FOX,” the Party of Five alum said in an Instagram video. “I can’t wait to see what’s to come. It’s full of surprises. Thank you so much for your love and support. See you this season on FOX.”

The video, co-posted by Scott, Sony Pictures TV, Sony Pictures TV International and Drama Club Fox, was captioned: “This is the best news ever!!! ❤️ Watch #DocOnFOX on #FOX Tuesday and @hulu the next day.”
Multiple Doctor Stars reacted to the news in the comments section.
Charlotte Fountain-Jardim, who plays Katie Hamda, commented, “Amazing!!👏👏.” Amira Vann, who plays Dr. Gina Walker, commented, “Yay! I’m so happy to have my brother back!!” Anya Banerjee, who plays Dr. Sonya Maitra, posted, “Yay!!! Can’t wait! 🙌🏽.”
Co-showrunners Barbie Kligman and Hank Steinberg teased Dr. Richard Miller’s return in a statement, expressing that they “always knew when Richard would be fired, it wouldn’t be the last time.”

Scott’s return to the role of Doc will be his first role since he filed for divorce from Kelly in June.
“After 21 years of marriage, I have made the most difficult decision of my life and filed for divorce from my wife, Kelly,” he said in a statement previously obtained by PEOPLE. “Our children have been and will continue to be our loved ones and our top priority. As such, we ask for your privacy at this time as we help guide them through this new chapter.”

The couple, who married in 2004, have three children: Jackson, 16, Miller, 12, and Lucy, 11.
Scott won temporary sole custody of their three children in August. That same month, Kelly was arrested and charged with three misdemeanors related to the separation. It was revealed in late September that Kelly had been admitted to a mental health facility in Utah.
