Scarlett Johansson “panicked” and abruptly left her first date with husband Colin Jost.
While co-hosting Monday’s episode of the Today show with Jenna Bush Hager in 2017, the “Black Widow” actress reflected on a “great date” she had with her now-husband.
“Nobody had ever asked me out on a date before,” Johansson said, explaining, “I was a serial monogamist, so I never got the traditional line of, ‘Hey, would you like to have dinner sometime?'”
At the time, the cast of “Saturday Night Live” took Johansson to an Italian restaurant in the East Village.
“We had dinner, and then he was like, ‘I’m meeting a friend, let’s go for drinks.’ And I had basically never been on a date before, so I was like, ‘I have to go.’ I need to leave,” Johansson recalled.
She finished the date in about an hour and a half and left immediately.
“I went home to reassure the babysitter and she said, ‘Why are you home?’” And I was like, “I don’t know!” I was just very flustered,” she explained.
Scargio, 41, said her premature retirement completely scared the comedian, 43.
“Then he said, ‘I totally thought so. Your behavior was so weird.'” I panicked. I don’t know,” the Jurassic World: Rebirth star laughed.
In his 2020 memoir, “A Very Punchable Face,” the “Weekend Update” co-anchor recalled his first impression of Johansson after meeting her on the set of “SNL” in 2006.
“She was beautiful, smart, kind, and frighteningly sophisticated.
“She claims to remember thinking I was ‘cute,’ but she knows what I looked like, so she didn’t use those words (‘hairy’ would have been more generous; ‘scruffy’ would have been more accurate),” he wrote.
The two got engaged after dating for two years and tied the knot in October 2020.
The couple have a four-year-old son named Cosmo, and Johansson also co-parents their 11-year-old daughter Rose with her ex-husband Romain Dauriac.
