Savannah Guthrie probably won’t return to the “Today” show after the heartbreaking disappearance of her mother Nancy, according to a new report.

The Today anchor has not appeared on NBC’s morning show since February 1, when Nancy was reported missing. Multiple television veterans told Status News that they doubt she will return.

“There’s no chance of Savannah coming back,” a source told the outlet. “I can’t imagine she would want to do that.”

However, Page Six is told that they can’t say for sure that Savannah won’t be back at all, as she’s currently focused on her mother rather than work.

Meanwhile, another TV executive noted Savannah’s importance to the iconic morning show, telling the magazine, “If there’s one person in all of morning TV that the show doesn’t want to lose, it’s Savannah.”

“Savannah has always been the glue of that show. Without her, this whole paradigm of the morning anchor team as a family, that connective tissue, just gets torn apart,” the source continued.

Savannah’s former co-anchor Hoda Kotb returned to the “Today” show as a fill-in during the Guthrie family tragedy.

Kotb left NBC in January 2025 after 26 years with the network.

Page Six has learned that Kotb will be back next week. There are no immediate plans to keep her, but executives will assess the situation on a weekly basis.

Sources previously told Page Six that Savannah would be leaving the Today show “for the foreseeable future” amid the desperate search for her mother.

“The entire program and network stands together to support our beloved colleagues and friends as we navigate these unimaginable times,” an NBC source told Page Six.

Savannah, 54, has been co-anchor of Today since July 2012.

Page Sixx was told in October 2024 that she still had more than a year left on her $7 million-a-year contract, meaning her contract was up for renewal.

“Everyone at Today is taking this situation day by day and of course giving Savannah the grace, time and support she needs,” a source told Us.

Despite Savannah and her siblings Annie and Camron’s desperate pleas to bring home their 84-year-old mother, no suspects have been identified in Nancy’s disappearance.

Savannah’s friends voiced their concerns for her on Page Six on Monday after she recently urged Nancy’s suspected kidnapper to “do the right thing.”

“She seems devastated. She looks like she’s having a hard time,” a source told Us. “She can’t make it.”

“Everyone who knows her is obviously very concerned about her,” the source added.
