Savannah Guthrie asked for prayers as her mother, Nancy Guthrie, remains missing.
The “Today” show co-host shared an Instagram post Monday night asking her followers to “please pray” for her mother, who was apparently abducted from her Arizona home in her sleep over the weekend.
In a long caption, the journalist wrote: “We believe in prayer. We believe in voices raised in unison, filled with love and hope. We believe in goodness. We believe in humanity. And above all, we believe in God.”
She continued, “Thank you for joining our prayers in your prayers for our beloved mother, our beloved Nancy, a woman of deep faith, a good and faithful servant.”
“Please join us in raising your prayers and believe with us that she will be saved by them in this moment,” the NBC personality, 54, continued. “We need you.”
She went on to share a Bible verse, saying, “The Lord will keep in perfect peace those who trust in him and are hard-hearted.” “
Savannah added, “It’s a passage from Isaiah that will last for all of us.”
“Take her home,” Savannah concluded.
Her social media followers expressed their support in the comments, including Savannah’s former co-anchor Hoda Kotb.
Kotb, 61, wrote: “Continuous prayers. I love you, my daughter.”
“🙏🙏I’m just praying for your mom, you, and your family. I love you so much,” meteorologist Dylan Dryer added.
As for Jenna Bush Hager, she wrote, “Praying, my love. I can’t stop thinking of you and Nancy. ❤️.”
“I’m praying. My love and prayers go out to your family,” Andy Cohen said in a statement.
Nancy was last seen Saturday night when she was taken back to her home in Tucson after a family dinner, but she did not show up at church the next morning.
The 84-year-old is of “sound mind” and “sharp as a tack” but is believed to have had physical ailments and was “taken from her home against her will, probably in the middle of the night.”
“This includes the possibility of kidnapping and abduction,” Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said Monday. “This is an elderly woman in her mid-80s who is sick… She couldn’t go even 50 yards.”
The Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday that blood stains and signs of forced entry were found at Nancy’s home, which is being treated as a crime scene.
In Savannah’s initial statement, the Daytime Emmy Award winner wrote, “On behalf of our family, I would like to thank everyone for your thoughts, prayers, and messages of support. Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our beloved mother.”
“We appreciate the efforts of law enforcement in this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900,” concluded Savannah, who is absent from the Today show and will be withdrawing from the Winter Olympics.
