Sarah Schweitzman has been named co-head of CAA Media Finance.
The distributor will run the division alongside veteran Roeg Sutherland, who will oversee the packaging and presentation of independently financed film, television and digital content.
Schweitzman began her career as an assistant at CAA and later worked at director Alex Kurtzman’s production company, Secret Hideout. She then held executive positions at 21st Century Fox and Vendome Pictures, where she worked on several films including “Source Code,” “Kingsman: The Secret Service,” “Spy,” “The Greatest Showman,” and more.
She returned to the agency in 2017. In our media financing division, we helped filmmakers secure financing and distribution deals. Her clients include Nadine Labaki, Jennifer Kent, Pamela Adlon, Rebecca Zlotowski, Raj Lee, Karim Ainouz, and Dakota Johnson’s Teatime Pictures. She played a role in the sales and financing of notable recent films such as Bugonia, Conclave, Hit Man, Coda, My Old Ass, Challengers, The Holdovers, The Last Showgirl, and May December.
In an official statement, Sutherland said: “Sarah and I have worked together in various capacities for many years. She is intelligent and has impeccable taste. I have always admired her creativity and her passionate advocacy as an artist. 10 When she joined us nearly a year ago, she fit right in and quickly became a valued member of the CAA team, and we couldn’t be more proud or excited to see her step into this new role.”
Ms. Schweitzman’s ascension comes as she and Mr. Sutherland’s longtime colleague Ben Kramer left CAA this year to help launch a new distribution arm for indie giant Black Bear.
