Sarah Paulson got emotional at Thursday’s All’s Fair premiere over the death of her best friend Diane Keaton.
The actress broke down in tears on the red carpet as she spoke for the first time about the death of her “very dear friend.”
“I can’t talk about it yet,” the “American Horror Story” alum, 50, admitted to Access Hollywood at an event in Los Angeles. “But all I can say is… it’s important to me to let you know what you thought of her as a performer and even more as a person.”
She called herself “the luckiest person in the world to have had[Keaton]like that in my life.”
Paulson and the journalist hugged at the end of the interview.
Additionally, the Emmy winner opened up to The Hollywood Reporter about losing Keaton at age 79 on Saturday.
“I was incredibly close to her and this is a very sad time for me,” Paulson explained. “I can’t speak clearly about that.”
Doubling down on her earlier sentiments, she gushed, “You all knew and loved her as a performer, but more than that, she was a friend.”
Keaton’s death made headlines over the weekend, and her family later revealed the “Annie Hill” star’s cause of death was pneumonia.
Reports have surfaced that Keaton has been suffering from a mysterious illness and that his health has “suddenly deteriorated,” and his friends have confirmed this.
Paulson did not immediately release a statement paying tribute to Keaton, but he was photographed visiting the “Father of the Bride” star’s Los Angeles home on Saturday.
The “American Crime Story” alum appeared visibly emotional as she gathered with others at her official residence.
Paulson spoke about her bond with Keaton at Chanel’s Through Her Lens luncheon last month, explaining that they met while filming The Other Sister in 1999.
“She was really nice to me, and we’ve been really good friends ever since,” the Tony Award winner recalled in a roundtable interview in September. “I feel very lucky.”
Keaton leaves behind two children, daughter Dexter, 29, and son Duke, 25.
