The young talent won this year at the European Latin America co-production forum in San Sebastian. This assigned two top awards, “Don’t let me die alone” by Chilean Francis Co Rodriguestier and Nicaraguan Rola Bau Mister, “My Death Follow.”
Rodriguestia’s second feature, where “Otro Sol” won a Latin American feature on Mar Del Plata. Here, the tragic delivery boy is obtained by disposing of mummies recovered in Iquique, north of Chile. “The Chinchoro Mummy appears as a character leading the character’s journey and invites us to explore the memory of the body that transcends death,” says producer Rodrigo Diaz. The project team will turn Chilean Axolotl and Minble films into films along with Belgium’s Michigan.
Following the well-known Toronto player and San Sebastian winner “Daughter Rage”, Baumeister’s second feature begins on a full moon night in the desert of Mexico, Virginia, a young Nicaraguan immigrant, and is rescued by Aurora, a sheep reaper. When Virginia completes Nahual’s transformation into a woman, they fall in love. The project is “transgender stories, narratively speaking, risk and funny,” and “starting with a realistic register, taking the phenomenon of migration as a pervert” and “playing with a mix of genres,” Bymeister said.
Two Latin American Star Authurs also participated in the award hunt. Alvaro Brechner of Uruguay was awarded the Altequino International Award for “Lapier de Leon.” Screenplay by Spanish Academy Goya.
In San Sebastian, he also introduced “Ormo”, supported by Brad Pitt’s Plan B, and Latinos Horizontes Inbucke (“Ormo”, “Duck Season”) won the Top WIP Ratum Award for “Fly”. German and Ukrainian director Tatjana Moutchnik cleaned Wip Europa in the family drama “February, Seven Days,” about two estranged brothers who were reunited at his mother’s funeral, just as Russia invaded Ukraine.
The Ikusmira Berriak Award, backed by Spanish production and sales distributor Sidederal, reached the buzz title “La Colliana, un popeaferromagnéticodeluz y mememeia” which is likely to be supported by major Spanish companies after running in Porto/Post/Documents. Estíbaliz Urresola boarded as a producer.
