“Midaq Alley” (“El Calle jón de Los Milagros”), a gem of Jorge Fons 1995, which began Salma Hayek’s career, has been re-released by Sony Pictures in Mexico and Latin America thanks to an agreement between Sony Pictures International Productions and its producer, Alameda Films.

News came after the announcement that the festival’s classic (Klasikoak) section would be closing at the San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain.

The newly restored 4K version celebrates the 30th anniversary of the iconic film, considered to be one of the most important Mexican films of all time. He has won numerous awards around the world and represented Mexico at the 68th Academy Awards.

Based on the novel by Nobel Prize-winning Egyptian writer Nagib Mahhus, along with a script by Vicente Regnoro, the film was produced by the legendary Alfredo Lipstein.

The story is set in Mexico City’s Back Street, where the lives of its residents are closely woven into it. The film is divided into four distinct parts. The first three are named after the main character, and the last character ends the story. Each part starts at the same moment, showing the same game of Dominoes, covering the same period, but from the perspective of different characters.

Returning “Midak Alley” to the theatres with the support of Sony is a testament to the enduring impact and cultural significance of the film,” Berman Lipstein said. It took four years to restore the classic to a new restored version, he revealed.

“We are delighted to be part of this once-in-a-lifetime milestone film celebration,” said Philip Alexander, general manager of Mexico-releasing Sony Pictures.

In addition to being Salma Hayek’s screen debut, “Midaq Alley” features a notable ensemble cast of acclaimed Mexican actors, including Brunovicil (“Ozark”), Daniel Gimenezukacho (“Zama”), Juan Manuel Bernal (“Monarch”), and Ernesto Gome Cruise (“Amaro-john of Amara in “Father’s Amara”. weddings), Tiare Skanda (“Man’s Landless”), Margarita Sants (“Frida”).

The theatrical run of “Midaq Alley” is scheduled to begin on October 23rd with Sony’s distribution of handling throughout Mexico and Latin America.

The 73rd San Sebastian Film Festival will be held from September 19th to 27th.
