The SAG-AFTRA Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides support and education to actors, has established the Diane Ladd Fund to assist performers in need of critical health and medical assistance. The fund was established in conjunction with the Rudd family in memory of its namesake, who passed away on November 3rd.
Diane Ladd is a three-time Academy Award-nominated actress who has starred in more than 200 film and television titles over the past 70 years. She has been a long-time supporter of the SAG-AFTRA Foundation and its Emergency Financial Assistance Program, and has advocated for the protection of performers facing health crises or struggling to pay their medical bills.
“My mother was always so moved when we talked about the SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s critical support for our members during difficult times,” Rudd’s daughter Laura Dern said in a statement. “She has been a determined and outspoken advocate for providing access to desperately needed medical care in critical situations. Her desire to partner with the Foundation to establish the Diane Ladd Fund is a testament to her commitment to our community.”
SAG-AFTRA Foundation Executive Director Sid Wilson added, “The establishment of this fund is a great honor for an actor who has done so much to highlight the needs of others. We do everything in our power to support our performers in times of need, and Diane understands that on a personal level. Our work literally changes lives, and her generosity will help us go even further.”
