Ryan Seacrest is one funk I’m proud of.
The 50-year-old American Idol host spoke to people on Thursday, September 4th at the 25th anniversary gala in Los Angeles, California. He reveals that 6-year-old Nie Flora Marie has a special name for him.
“I have a sweatshirt that Nie made and I’m called Funkel,” Seacrest tells people that refers to “fun uncle.”
“It also says ‘funkel’. I wear it proudly,” he says.

What about the “funkel” that Ryan and his nie do together while wandering around? They spend their time devouring Disney movies.
“We’re watching Disney movies. I’m catching up,” Seacrest admits. “As a young man, I didn’t watch all the princess movies, so now I’m watching all the princess movies. This is so much fun.”
“She loves to go to Shirley’s temple. We do that. She loves to get me to do gymnastics.
Seacrest’s younger sister, Meredith Seacrest Leach, is six years younger than her host and is a mom to her daughter, Flora Marie.
During the August 2022 live and episodes of Kelly and Ryan, Seacrest joined us by then-3-year-old Nie, who was able to resolve his discussion about chocolate chip cookies by him and guest co-host Tamron Hall.
In honor of National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day, the co-host decides that the crunchy cookies are excellent for the taste test. Flora supported the deliberation co-host and ultimately declared a crunch as the winner.
“Flora, do you know what we should do? I’ll eat all those cookies and then hang out with my mom,” Seacrest joked. “A little sugar lash.”
Following the show, SeaCrest shared a series of photos on Instagram with Flora in the episode.
In the first shot, Seacrest smiled along with her younger sister Meredith and the little one. He also posted a video before the show showing Flora raising the microphone, introducing another girl walking shyly to the set, holding a stuffed animal.
“It’s Flora’s show, we’re just supporting the characters in it,” Seacrest captioned in the sweet post.
