Ryan Lochte’s estranged wife Kayla Reid has slammed the former Olympic swimmer for not being a good father to their three children.
The real estate agent and influencer broke her silence about the divorce, but it has not yet been finalized after filing for divorce in March 2025. The two were married for seven years before announcing their divorce.
“Obviously, we’re not in a good place,” Reid told People of her and Lochte’s current position.
“I sincerely hope that he will be the father our children deserve,” she continued.
Reed said she tries to have “minimum interaction” with her estranged husband and that she “wants a divorce.”
The newspaper said their divorce is pending in court due to disagreements over financial and other issues.
“It may still be a long road,” Reid, 34, admitted.
Reid and Lochte have a son, Kaiden, 8, and daughters Liv, 6, and Georgia, 2. Reid, a former model, said the children were “okay.”
“Obviously they’re having a little conflict and confusion and wondering what’s going on,” she explained.
Lochte did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
The divorce was rocky, with Reid previously hinting at “betrayal” and accusing her of using drugs in front of their children. Lochte later revealed that he had entered a rehabilitation facility.
He admitted that he “fell into a dark place” after a near-fatal car accident in 2023, which he said led to “depression, loneliness and feeling like I had given up on life, which led me down a path of substance abuse.”
The former couple also racked up nearly $270,000 in debt during their divorce, according to documents obtained by Page Six in June 2025.
Their debts included $99,696 to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and $127,977.73 to Shands Teaching Hospital and Clinic, where Lochte may have been treated after the car accident.
Lochte, 41, has been in a relationship ever since. Just nine months after Reed filed for divorce, he moved in with his girlfriend and their three children last month.
The 12-time Olympic medalist told People that she is focused on taking care of her children.
“Everything I’ve done in the last 10 months has been for my children and to be the best father they can be,” he said. “That meant putting in the work, going to rehab, rededicating my life to Christ, going to therapy, putting my kids first and making changes.”
“I’m grateful that because of that growth, I now get to spend time with my kids 50% of the time,” he added.
