Rosalía is charting a bold new direction with her new orchestral single “Berghain,” ahead of her fourth studio album “Lux,” released on November 7th.
In contrast to her Grammy-winning album Motomami, her upcoming fourth studio LP is said to have Rosalía singing in 13 different languages and divided into four movements. The physical version of the LP contains 18 songs and the digital version contains 15 songs.
Björk, Spanish singer Silvia Pérez Cruz, Portuguese singer Carminho, flamenco singer Estrella Morente, Musica Mexicana singer-songwriter Jafrica, and Yves Tumor will also perform. The children’s choir Escolanía de Montserrat y Col Cambra and the Palau de la Musica de Catalunya are also listed as collaborators.
In her first in-depth interview since the release of Berghain on The New York Times’ Popcast podcast, Rosalía revealed that she was recording Lux at the same time as filming the upcoming season of HBO’s Euphoria.
“Everything I do is because I’m a fan,” she said of her role choices. “So you might think, ‘Oh,[‘Euphoria’]is a pop moment or something.'” For me, it’s like, ‘Oh, this is a new environment.’ This is new. How can I do this and still be a good performer? Because being a performer on stage is very different from being a performer acting in a production like that, serving[Euphoria creator]Sam’s[Levinson]vision. ”
Rosalía said that Levinson was “one of the first people I wanted to play this album with,” adding, “He had the most beautiful reaction…He was in tears. It meant so much because I respect his vision so much.” Alexa Demme, who played Maddie on Euphoria, also heard the album and “had the same reaction.”
“So I thought, ‘Okay, this might mean I’m on the right path,'” Rosalía remembers thinking. “This could mean that maybe we’re doing what we’re supposed to be doing.”
Elsewhere in the conversation, Rosalía admitted that she was filming scenes for “Euphoria” while translating, rewriting and composing lyrics for her ambitious new record. Both initiatives were what could be called “challenges,” but they nearly fell apart several times along the way.
“This is so hard that I almost had a mental breakdown or just a breakdown…but I thought, ‘Rosalia, if anyone can do it, it’s you.'” I repeat that to myself. “If anyone can do it, it’s you.” Keep going, keep going. ” And I got it and didn’t forget that line often — thank God. ”
Not much is known about ‘Euphoria’ Season 3, other than that it will be released in spring 2026 and will feature many returning cast members and newcomers, including Trisha Paytas, Natasha Lyonne, Daniel Deadwyler, and Eli Roth.
