Rory McIlroy gave his wife, Erica Stoll a celebratory kiss, giving fans who threw beer to her after winning the 2025 Ryder Cup.
The athlete was spotted quickly moving towards the crowd and partners at Bethpage Black Golf Course in Old Bethpage, New York over the weekend.
“What a year,” McIlroy told Stoll.
Stoll, 38, is the front desk and center to support her husband throughout the three-day event, and was seen in current footage where she gets what appears to have been thrown into her head on Saturday.
The video showed Stoll walking to hole 17 where 36-year-old McIlroy (36) occurred.
Stall quickly turned around in shock and found out who had thrown the drink, but McIlroy’s security retreated him from advancing to the crowd.
McIlroy later praised the walk for dealing with despicable circumstances with “class and dignity.”
“Erica is fine. She’s a very strong woman,” he said she got independent on Sunday.
“You know, she treated everything this week with class, calmness and dignity, like she always has. I love her and I’m going to have a good time to celebrate tonight.”
McIlroy was a major target for the European team, reportedly calling for “language” and “unacceptable abusive behaviour” of audiences throughout the weekend.
“I don’t think we should accept that in golf,” he said. “I think golf should be held to a higher standard than what was seen this week. Golf has the ability to unite people. Golf teaches you very good life lessons.”
Meanwhile, Walk and McIlroy continue to maintain the united front after a temporary split last year.
McIlroy filed for divorce in May 2024 after seven years of marriage and was rumored to date news reporter Amanda Balionis that month.
In June he called off the divorce and told the Guardian that he and the walk with him “settled the difference (their)”.
The couple, who share their five-year-old daughter, Poppy, doesn’t avoid packing their PDAs during golf tournaments.
