Former “Love of Love” contestant Kelsey Bateman has passed away. She was 39 years old.
The reality star, who appeared in the third and final seasons of the VH1 date show in 2009, passed away “unexpectedly,” her family told TMZ.
The cause of death has not been revealed.
Bateman was just 21 years old when he competed with 22 women to date locker Brett Michaels.
“Bret Michaels’ Rock of Love” took place from 2007 to 2009. The third season, entitled “Bret Michaels and Lock of Love Bus,” featured a woman who lives on a tour bus and travels with a poisonous frontman.
Bateman became one of the last nine women to compete to become Michaels’ girlfriend, but was eliminated in the seventh episode of the third season.
She appears drunk with several other contestants and admits she lays down a speed bump and crying due to the pressure of the show.
“I slammed my eyes and lay down on the speed bump, but what do you know? I’m here and ready for anything Brett is telling me,” she said in her confession.
“But I can’t be the only girl who’s drunk and lying on a speed bump. Let’s be honest.”
Michaels, now 62, eliminated Bateman after saying he didn’t think he could handle the rock and roll lifestyle.
“At one point, I looked around during the concert and you weren’t there anymore,” he told her.
“And at some point you were lying on the speed bump saying you couldn’t handle this anymore. The fact that you need to be someone you aren’t tonight, the fact that you just need to drink this?”
“I think you’re a great and beautiful girl. I’ve sometimes said I have to make decisions for people, and my decision for you is that I’m going to finish your tour here,” he said.
In a follow-up confession, the emotional Bateman said, “Sometimes I’m drunk and lying on a speed bump. That’s just you know.
“I’m going home, and I’m going to be single. I’m not going to think about guys for a while, but the next guy I’ll find is definitely not 44 years old and probably not a rock star.”
The musician eventually ended up choosing Taya Parker as his girlfriend in the finale. However, their relationship was short-lived and he continued to marry his wife, Christie Michaels in 2013.
First met in 1994, Brett and Christie share their daughter, Rain, 25, with 20-year-old Yoruya.
