What you need to know
Robert Irwin had no problem trading the bright lights and loud noises of Los Angeles for the natural atmosphere he’d been accustomed to most of his life.
After winning the latest season of Dancing with the Stars, which was shot in the glamorous West Coast city, the 22-year-old conservationist admitted in an interview with The West Australian that he was happy to be returning to more rugged terrain so soon.
“It’s been great being in L.A. for the last three months, but I’m not a city kid,” Irwin said. “I live in the bush, I grew up there, so it’s nice to be back somewhere with a little greenery.”
Although Irwin is currently away from his native Australia, he is enjoying his time in South Africa, where he is filming the new season of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!
“I actually couldn’t wait to get here,” he told The West Australian, reiterating his desire to move away from more urban areas.

Robert grew up and usually lives in Australia with his mother Terri Irwin, sister Bindi Irwini, husband Chandler Powell, and daughter Grace Warrior.
Together, the family continues patriarch Steve Irwin’s mission to support wildlife rehabilitation and teach people about the natural world through their work at Australia Zoo. (Steve died in 2006 at the age of 44 after being attacked by a stingray while filming at Bat Reef off the coast of Australia.)
Back in September, Robert told Travel + Leisure that Australia is a place that has always made him feel connected to his late father. “This is where I feel his energy and passion more than anywhere else,” he explained.
Robert added. “If I were to compare Australia to a human being, it would be my father. He loves wildlife, he has a passion, he has a spirit of camaraderie and camaraderie towards everyone. To me, he is a superhero.”

Robert and Whitney Carson were presented with the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy during the DWTS Season 34 finale in November.
His victory came nearly 10 years after his 27-year-old sister Bindi won the title with pro partner Derek Hough.
After winning, Robert said in an interview with PEOPLE that winning the same honor as his brother meant “everything to him,” adding, “This has completely changed my life.”
In an Instagram post on January 11, Robert teased his involvement in I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, which he will co-host with Julia Morris starting in 2023. He told fans: “This season we’re changing things up and raising the bar. We’re doing a little bit of planning right now.”
The latest season of ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ is currently airing on Network 10 in Australia. The next season of Dancing with the Stars is scheduled to premiere in late 2026.
