Rob Reiner’s daughter Romy Reiner reportedly “lived in fear” of her brother Nick Reiner before he allegedly murdered her parents.
“Romy seems to have been scared of Nick since childhood,” a source told the Daily Mail Sunday edition.
“Even before his drug addiction, his outbursts seemed to come out of nowhere and were scary. She tried to stay out of his way as much as possible, but it wasn’t easy.”
A source said Romy, who celebrates her 28th birthday on December 27, “didn’t think it was a good idea” for Nick, 32, to live in his parents’ guest house.
“She didn’t even like the idea of him living across the street,” the source claimed, explaining that the internet personality lived next door to her father, Rob, and mother, Michelle Singer Reiner.
“But she knew they were keeping a close eye on him and moving him to give him a roof over his head,” the source said.
“Romy was often angry at Nick, and of course that brought her closer to Jake.”
A source said that Jake, 34, had similar feelings about Nick and that “Romy was able to talk about it because he didn’t want to burden his parents.”
“She and Jake are numb right now,” the source claimed.
Sources said that although Romy was reportedly afraid of Nick, she tried to help her brother in any way she could and called him her “best friend.”
“Romy and Jake were there for Nick whenever her parents seemed overwhelmed or needed help. They weren’t perfect by any means, but she never disowned him,” the source added.
Representatives for the Reiner family did not immediately respond to Page Six for comment.
Nick was arrested on December 14 in connection with the deaths of his famous parents at their home in Brentwood, California.
Officials told the post that Romy discovered the bodies of his parents. She reportedly told officers that Nick should be listed as a person of interest.
Nick has a history of violence and drug abuse and is scheduled to be arraigned on January 7th.
