The CBS News special “Rob Reiner – Scenes from a Life” averaged 6.2 million viewers on Sunday night.
Of those viewers, 858,000 were in the adult age group 25-54, according to Nielsen.
The 45-minute special featured new interviews with friends of the late filmmaker, including Kathy Bates, Annette Bening, Albert Brooks, Michael Douglas, Kiefer Sutherland, Jerry O’Connell and Mandy Patinkin, who looked back on his career and accomplishments. The interview is augmented with clips from CBS News interviews with Reiner himself over the years, including a recent conversation with Lesley Stahl on “60 Minutes” in the fall, as well as reviews of his films “The Princess Bride,” “When Harry Met Sally,” “Misery,” “This is Spinal Tap,” “The American President,” “Stand by Me,” and his 70s starring roles. CBS sitcom “All in the Family.”

Reiner and his wife Michelle Reiner were found dead in their Los Angeles home on December 14th. One of the sons, Nick Reiner, was arrested and charged with two counts of murder. The Reiners died minutes later after suffering multiple sharp knife wounds, according to death certificates. If convicted, Nick could face life in prison without parole or the equivalent of the death penalty. He made no statement during his first court appearance on December 17th.
