Row K Entertainment has won US distribution rights to “Cliffhanger,” a rethink of the 1993 classic directed by Jaume Collet-Serra. This latest version of the live-action thriller stars Pierce Brosnan and Lily James.
The acquisition marks the third transaction from TIFF to Row K Entertainment since its launch in August. Other acquisitions include Gus Van San’s “The Dead Man Wire,” starring Bill Skarsgard, and Dacre Montgomery, Carrie Elwes, Myhira, Colman Domingo and Al Pacino. And then “Charlie Harper,” starring Nick Robinson and Emilia Jones, with Tom Dean and Mac Eldridge.
“Cliffhanger” is currently a post-production company with a wide range of theatrical releases scheduled for 2026.
The film focuses on veteran mountaineer Ray Cooper (Brosnan), who runs a gorgeous chalet in Dolomite with his daughter Sydney. According to the film’s description, the story takes place during a weekend trip with the billionaire son. A gang of temptations is being targeted. Ray’s daughter Naomi (James), still plagued by past mountain climbing accidents, witnesses the attack and escapes.
“Cliffhanger” was written by Anna Lily Amirpool, Sasha Penn, Mark Biancari and Melanie Toast. Producers include Lars Sylvest of Sthank You Pictures, Joe Neurauter from Supernix, Thorsten Schumacher from Rocket Science, Neal Moritz and Toby Jaffe.
The acquisition was negotiated on behalf of the filmmakers by CAA Media Finance, which represents domestic rights. Rocket Science handles international sales.

CBN Film and Fathom Entertainment for the release of “Oracle of God” in theaters
CBN Films and Fathom Entertainment has announced the theatrical release of “God’s Oracle: A New Testament Tales” on November 2, 3 and 5.
The documentary explores how New Testament letters and Gospels were written, preserved and conveyed as the most influential books in history. With interviews, historical reenactments and archaeological evidence, the film explores the identity of the New Testament and when they wrote it.
“The issues of faith, including inspirational storytelling and documentaries, have long been an important part of Fathom’s wide range of specialized content for theatres. We are extremely pleased to use “Oracle of God” to partner with CBN films and bring this fascinating Biblical film to an audience across the country.”

The name Rosekuo of the California Film Institute is as an artistic director.
The California Institute of Film and Technology (CAFILM) has appointed Rosekuo as artistic director. This is a newly created leadership position established earlier this year to guide the organization’s artistic vision.
In this role, Kuo oversees the artistic and curatorial direction of Kafilm’s programs, including the Mill Valley Film Festival, the Doctans Documentary Film Festival, the Smith Rafael Film Center in San Rafael, the Sequoia Cinema in Mill Valley, and the Kafil Education Initiative.
“Rose brings an incredible combination of international experience, artistic vision and a deep commitment to the art of cinema,” says Mark Fishkin, founder and executive director of Kafilm. “Her leadership ensures that Kafilm will continue to defend an independent voice, attract audiences and inspire the next generation of filmmakers.”
Previously, Kuo was executive director of the Lincoln Center Film Association and the New York Film Festival. Before joining Cafilm, Kuo established his position as artistic director at AFI Fest.
In addition to her background in cinema arts, Kuo founded the film consulting organization Festworks, which previously advised major studios on global festival strategy, working with the nonprofit Cinema Arts Groups and audience engagement.
