Ross McElwee’s “Remake” won the Golden Globe Award for Impact, a documentary at the Venice Film Festival.
The award, published by the Artemis Rising Foundation, celebrates the documentary feature film in the official Venice selection called “Attention to important social issues of journalism and creative prowess.”
The film team will receive a $10,000 prize from the Artemis Rising Foundation and an impact collaboration with Think-Film Impact Production.
“Remake” traces McElwee’s relationship with his son Adrian, and the bond that the camera created while Adrian was alive. Paintings are drawn from decades of footage, some shot by Ross, some shot by Adrien, and the film becomes “a layered excavation of memory and imagemaking.” Threadthrough is a ghost of another project. It’s Hollywood’s stagnant efforts to fictionalize McErwee’s “Sherman’s March,” which won the Best Documentary at the Sundance Film Festival.
Cinetic Media handles global sales of “Remake” created by Mark Meatto and McElwee with Giant Squid.
The ju-deputy reads, “The “remake” exquisitely evokes the pain of losing and disappointing the person we love most, but brings us to a deeper understanding of how sadness expands and teaches us. It demonstrates the power of candid storytelling on the healing process and offers a new lens on how art can help us face the truth and find Thorus. ”
