After the phenomenal success of ‘Dhulandhar’ which emerged as one of the biggest box office hits in India in 2025, the makers have decided to release the sequel towards Eid 2026.
‘Dhulandhar 2’ will be released on March 19, 2026 with simultaneous pan-India and global release in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. This is a significant expansion from the previous film’s Hindi-only theatrical release.
The first film follows a decade-long Indian intelligence operation as an undercover agent infiltrates Karachi’s criminal and political underworld. The sequel is expected to continue from the cliffhanger ending.
It is directed by Aditya Dhar and produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios. Ranveer Singh leads the cast, with Akshaye Khanna playing the role of the antagonist. The cast also includes Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Manav Gohil, Denmark Pandor, Saumya Tandon, Gaurav Gera and Naveen Kaushik.
Although the first film was released only in Hindi, the decision to release it in five languages was in response to unprecedented demand from the South Indian market. The original ‘Dhulandhar’ has garnered extraordinary attention across South India through word of mouth and social media spread, with distributors and exhibitors across the South consistently reporting strong audience demand for the dubbed version. Jio Studios said fans have been actively pushing for the film to be released in regional languages, prompting the producers to ensure that “Dhulandar 2” reaches audiences across all regions in their own languages from day one.
The original version of “Dhurandhar” collected 730.7 million rupees ($81 million) at the Indian box office, while overseas box office collection reached 186.9 million rupees ($20.8 million) by Monday, according to figures provided by Jio Studios.
Dhurandhar 2, which is currently in post-production stage, is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Indian films of 2026. The makers are also exploring mainstream releases beyond the diaspora audience in some international regions.
