Six days after Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy, disappeared, analysis of a “very detailed” ransom note has revealed significant clues.
TMZ founder Harvey Levin appeared on CNN on Thursday after the first deadline listed in the ransom demand letter had passed.
“There is a radius around Tucson (Arizona) and that is made clear in this request letter,” Levin said, noting that an email was sent to his team Thursday.
“Based on what’s written there, I have real reason to believe that this person is within a radius of the Tucson area,” he claimed. “The authorities…have a radius and that’s something.”
However, he clarified: “To our knowledge, it is impossible to trace the origin of this email.”
Nancy, in particular, was reported missing from her home in Tucson on Sunday, and her three children, Savannah, Annie Guthrie and Camron Guthrie, appeared in an emotional video three days later pleading with the would-be kidnappers for proof of their survival.
Levin claimed the note said Nancy was “okay but scared” and was “aware of the letter and demand” for millions of dollars in Bitcoin.
“It specifically states that there will be no further communication…no negotiation, no communication,” he continued, noting that the message claimed “police are (probably) useless.”
Levin speculated that the writer “means business,” labeling it “very specific, well-organized (and) layered.”
He insisted the letter was not “thrown together” by a “crazy person” nor was it created by artificial intelligence.
Without going into details, he said Monday’s second deadline was a “much more significant” deadline.
When FBI Special Agent Heath York spoke about the alleged ransom note at a news conference Thursday, he mentioned Nancy’s Apple Watch and a damaged floodlight on her property.
Levin revealed that details about the Apple Watch, including its placement, have not yet been made public, but this could lend credence to the letter.
York said Thursday that he had not yet confirmed the authenticity of the ransom note, but said he was taking it “very seriously.”
An arrest was made in connection with another forged ransom note related to Nancy’s disappearance.
As the ransom deadline passed on Thursday, Savannah’s brother Kamron made a second plea to his 84-year-old mother’s alleged kidnappers.
“We want to talk to you and are waiting to hear from you,” he said.
Nancy suffers from a variety of health problems, from heart problems to high blood pressure, and is believed to be not taking her urgently needed medication.
