Range Sports has acquired Short Game Chef, a subscription service that provides golf instruction. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Short Game Chef was founded by former PGA Tour winner Parker McLachlin to provide resources to help golfers of all levels improve where it matters most: within 100 yards. Short Game Chef offers a library of over 300 exclusive videos, regular content updates, structured lessons, and tour-level strategies and techniques.
The service has built a membership base of over 3,000 people since its launch in November 2022.
“We have worked with Mr. Parker for seven years and have always been impressed by his dedication to helping golfers play smarter and master the scoring zone,” Jeremy Moore, Range Sports’ head of golf, said in a prepared statement. “It’s been inspiring to see how he has translated his unparalleled short game prowess into a dynamic business at Short Game Chef. Renji is now excited to support his continued growth.”
Range Sports seeks to expand its platform offerings through content, platform upgrades, new customer acquisition strategies, and off-platform monetization strategies.
Earlier this year, Range Sports announced the acquisition of live experience company Superfly to partially strengthen its brand consulting business with experiential marketing services.
“The acquisition of Short Game Chef is one of the first components of our larger strategy to work with our customers to build new assets and intellectual property,” Range Sports co-presidents Greg Luckman and Will Funk said in a statement. “Range’s robust capabilities and entrepreneurial culture uniquely positions us to expand SGC and be at the forefront of additional athlete-driven business and media platforms.”
