Netflix has set release dates for new episodes of “Sesame Street” and “Teacher Rachel,” as it expands its offering of children’s content by renewing existing shows, picking up new series, and even launching its gaming app Netflix Playground.
The streamer has renewed “Trash Truck” for a third season and ordered additional episodes of “The Creature Cases.” Also added to the lineup is Young MacDonald, a new musical series about the optimistic and cheerful Old MacDonald and his animal friends as they solve problems and learn about life on a farm.
Launching Monday in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, Philippines, and New Zealand, and the rest of the world on April 28, the Netflix Playground app is designed for kids ages 8 and under and is included with every membership. This app has no ads, in-app purchases, or additional charges.
According to Netflix, “Simply download the app on your smartphone or tablet and sign in to your Netflix account to access a growing library of kids’ games. With all the activities instantly playable and available offline, Netflix Playground is perfect for long plane rides or grocery shopping. The only surprise is how much fun you can guarantee your kids will have along the way.”
Games include “Playtime with Peppa Pig,” “Sesame Street,” “Dr. Seuss’ Horton!,” “Storybots,” “Dr. Seuss’ The Sneetch,” “Bad Dinosaur,” “Dr. Seuss’ Red Fish, Blue Fish,” and “Let’s Color.”
